Blue Bits

The Bomber Blue is a unique bit which produces amazing results for the majority of horses.  The mouthpiece is ported to give tongue relief.

The material used allows the bit to remain light and it encourages salivation. It is particularly well suited to horses that object to metal mouth pieces.

Bomber Blue Big Ring Gag (suitable for Polo)

The Big Ring Gag is stronger than the usual Loose Ring and Eggbutt as the ropes going through the rings create leverage which will exert more pressure through the mouthpiece whilst at the same time introducing more poll pressure.  These are generally used for Polo.

The big ring creates more leverage making it stronger than the small ring version.

Bomber Blue Pelham (55mm or 75mm shank)

The Pelham 55 has attachments for two reins, one near the mouthpiece and one at the end of the shank. These reins have similar action to the curb and bridoon reins in the double bridle.  Some riders, not adept at handling two sets of reins, prefer to use rein connectors, leather loops which connect from one ring to the other on the bit shank. The rein is then attached to this rounding.  The Pelham 55 has the shortest shank (55 mm) out of our range, this will soften poll pressure and leverage on the mouthpiece and curb.

The Pelham 75 has attachments for two reins, one near the mouthpiece and one at the end of the shank. These reins have similar action to the curb and bradoon reins in the double bridle.   The Polo Pelham 75 has 75mm shanks and has heavier cheekpeices than the standard Pelham.

Both are supplied with curb chain and hooks.

Bomber Blue Loose Ring

The Loose Ring allows for immediate release and relief from tongue and bar pressure.  The bit is immediately reset to a neutral position in the horse’s mouth.

Blue-Kimblewick_med

Bomber Blue Kimblewick

As with the Pelham, the action of the Kimblewick is dependent upon the position of the riders’ hands. The rein slides on the Dee shaped bit ring.

If the hands are lowered prior to pressure being applied to the reins, the rein will slide about an inch and the bit will assume roughly a 45° angle in the mouth. Causing the mouthpiece to act in a downward and backward motion on the lower jaw, this is complemented by a downward pressure on the poll, giving the bit a lowering action.

Bomber Blue Full Cheek

The Fulmer, or commonly known as the Full Cheek cheek piece, will have the same effect as the traditional Eggbutt in so much as, it will prevent pinching on the sides of the mouth, however the extended pins above and below the bit, firstly prevent the bit being pulled through the mouth and secondly have the effect of guiding the horses head which is great for schooling and training purposes.

Blue-Curb-Gag_lrg

Bomber Blue Curb Gag

The Curb Gag is a new addition to Bombers, this cheek piece uses the concept of a Rope gag and instead of using that pressure to apply poll it is used to apply curb pressure, from the second/bottom rein, although poll is not removed as there is a similar action to the Portuguese/Ring or Drop/Hanging cheek on the bit/top rein.

A ring can be added to the bottom to create more poll pressure.

2.5 ring Bomber Blue

Bomber Blue 2 1/2 -Ring

A Ring cheekpiece introduces poll pressure as well creating leverage on the mouthpiece, the 2½ Ring version is the softest version of ring bit as the ½ ring softens the leverage on the mouthpiece and poll.
